Frankfurt 2009: Wiesmann MF5 Roadster

Wiesmann MF5 Roadster

Here at Autoblog, we loves us some Wiesmann. The voluptuous, retro-styled German roadsters and coupes win us over with their classic proportions and their BMW powertrains – and color palate aside, this new MF5 looks to be just what the doctor ordered.

Brandishing a full 507 horsepower (evocative number for a roadster with a Bimmer heart, don't you think?) from its 5.0-liter V10, the MF5 reportedly clips 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and will tickle your follicles to the tune of 192 mph.

Wiesmann says they'll make just 55 examples, so chances are this will be the only enamel white example with screaming red trim and a bloodbath of an interior. We're fine with that. Wiessman, we still love thee, but at 189,500 Euros ($278,000+ USD), we'll take a subtler color combo.

PRESS RELEASE:

Sep 15th 2009

Wiesmann at the IAA 2009

World premiere of the Roadster MF5 and live production at the exhibition booth

Like no other Brand before Wiesmann is known for the exceptionality: Hand made purist sports cars combining classic design with state-of-the-art technology. Today the International Motor Show IAA opens for press and there are even more than two reasons to enter the Wiesmann area in hall number 5 on the exhibition booth B18. It's the world premiere of the brand new and strictly limited Wiesmann Roadster MF5 with 507 HP and a 5 litre V10 BMW engine. At the same time visitors can have a look at a unique and unprecedented activity for the IAA. The manufactory of purist sports cars from Duelmen in Germany is going to install a car live in front of the audience on the IAA. The Wiesmann GT MF4 will be produced during the 12 exhibition days and shows the secrets of hand-crafted sports cars live in Frankfurt. Sports car enthusiasts can follow the production level via Internet. A Webcam broadcast the pictures to the website www.wiesmann.com.

World premiere: the Wiesmann Roadster MF5

Delivering a top speed of 310 km/h, an exceptionally low power-to-weight ratio of only 2.7 kg/hp and completing the sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 takes even experienced sports car enthusiasts into a brand new dimension of driving enjoyment. This exclusive open-air experience will only be available to a select few because the spirited power package is only being produced in a limited edition of 55. Equipped with a V10 engine, 507 HP and 520 Nm torque, it's a car that appeals to all the senses. The extendable rear wing of the roadster version plus perfectly balanced suspension set-up guarantees the necessary stability, even at top speeds. The Wiesmann Roadster MF5 is available from a basic price of EUR 189,500.

Live production of a Wiesmann GT MF4

On the last day of the IAA the September 27th normally every engine wakes up and drive out of the exhibition hall, but one engine wakes up for the first time and run never in a car before. The completed Wiesmann GT MF4 is a product of the IAA. Two members of the staff will finish the work on the car from the September 15th till the September 27th exclusive and unique at the IAA in Frankfurt. The live production of the Wiesmann GT MF4 with 367 HP and a 4.8 litre engine can everyone follow locally at the IAA or via Webcam on www.wiesmann.com and www.auto-motor-und-sport.de.
